Minister of State for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, visiting the Millau Viaduct

Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, Minister of State for Transport, is today at the Millau Viaduct, along with Philippe Nourry, President of Eiffage motorway concessions, to announce the winners of the call  «  Connected bridges ».

Launched by the Center for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the environment, mobility and planning (Cerema), as part of France Relance, this program supports monitoring projects for innovative bridges. With 4 million euros, it should bring out new methods to insure maintenance and safety of the structures.

Among the 17 winners, APRR partnered with Artelia and two universities to develop a connected solution thanks to sensors detecting corrosion of bridge wires. A low cost installation that will allow remote monitoring, precise and effective. This selected project will now be experimented on four viaducts.

Monitoring and maintenance of bridges in France constitutes a major challenge of safety for users.
The latest innovations in instrumentation, telecommunications, data processing and artificial intelligence offer a significant potential in addition to conventional inspection methods.
