Discovering an out-of-the-ordinary land

Aveyron is a unique land of natural produce. Some of the products have a reputation that easily exceeds the limits of the department. Craftsmen and producers will be pleased to welcome you and share with you their passion for their work.

Roquefort is often considered as the king of cheese. Made from ewe's milk of the Lacaune breed, it is exported all over the world. Located just a few kilometres from the A75, to the south of Millau, Roquefort producers welcome visitors every day of the year.

Knives from Laguiole are highly prized by those who love to entertain at table. This small town is nestled right in the heart of the Aubrac, to the north of the department. Local producers maintain the traditional art of knife-making which combines skill and quality.

The leather and glove industries have been part of the life of the Millau region for centuries. The museum of Millau retraces all the stages in the processing of raw skins. The "Maison de la peau et du gant" will let you appreciate the skills of the craftsmen when you visit the workshop.

Local wines, traditional charcuterie, the 'bleu des causses' cheese must all be tasted when you stay in the Aveyron. Traditional markets and fairs are part and parcel of village or town life all year round. There are so many opportunities to discover the gastronomic richness of this unique land.
